People with sensitive and irritation-prone eyes often turn to daily disposable contact lenses, whose short lifespan ensures maximum hygiene and safety. Because of their very short duration of use, there is no possibility of protein deposits or dirt settling on them. Patients with slightly less sensitive eyes, who do not want to wear daily lenses but cannot wear monthly lenses, can reach for something in between daily and monthly lenses, namely bi-weekly contact lenses.
In our shop, the range of lenses of this type includes mainly Acuvue brand, such as Acuvue Oasys or Acuvue 2. They are made of oxygen-permeable materials: hydrogel or silicone hydrogel. Lenses made of the latter type of material can be worn continuously for 7 days and 6 nights or for 14 days taking them off at night. This brand of lenses is known worldwide and is one of the most frequently chosen products for vision correction, not only by people with sensitive eyes. They perfectly correct vision defects and, thanks to their excellent hydration and high oxygen permeability, they provide comfort to the eyes throughout the period of use, including when sleeping.
Another brand in the group of two-weekly lenses is Soflens 38, for which the manufacturer does not provide a specific period of use and leaves this up to the prescriber. However, they can be worn on a daily or continuous wear basis for a period of seven days and are therefore included in this category. Bausch+Lomb has been a well-known manufacturer of contact lenses and medical devices for decades and their products are of excellent quality and have an established reputation.
As 2-week lenses have a relatively short wearing time, they can be made of softer and more delicate materials than, say, monthly lenses. Because they are replaced as soon as 2 weeks after unpacking, they are little affected by the build-up of proteins and other contaminants, making them a more hygienic option. For this reason, 2-weekly lenses are particularly recommended for people who frequently experience infections and dry eye, but whose complaints are not severe enough to warrant single-use lenses. If your eyes are sensitive and you don't quite like the idea of daily disposable lenses, bi-weekly lenses should work well for you. However, be sure to take good care of them and order a bottle of lens care solution in addition to the lens case. As the vast majority of lenses in this category are Acuvue brand, we recommend a solution from the same manufacturer, Acuvue Revitalens, to clean them.
