Red eyes have always been associated with fiends, freaks and all kinds of monsters including vampires and creatures from the pit. This makes this group of coloured contact lenses not really suitable for everyday use, but perfect for Halloween and other special occasions. They constitute a fantastic addition and a final touch to a lot of cosplay creations and it’s hard to imagine a gory SFX makeup without them.

Are red contacts safe?

Provided they’re properly maintained, most of them can be used for as long as a year, allowing you to look scary not just on Halloween, but on many other occasions as well. Can you get red prescription contacts?

As mentioned previously, many of the lenses presented in this collection are available with prescription powers, so you don’t need to worry about spoiling your meticulously thought-out costume with a pair of spectacles. The powers available tend towards the most common so you can choose from a range between 0.0 and -6.0 in half diopter steps. Due to the fact that these lenses, despite their funky looks, are incredibly comfortable, you can wear them for many hours without any eye discomfort or irritation.

It’s important to remember that contact lenses should only be worn after a lens fitting has been performed and a contact lens prescription has been issued by a qualified optometrist. Even if your eyes are perfect and you don’t need any vision correction, you should get a prescription so you know the best lens parameters for your eyes. We don’t require you to upload your prescription while ordering but it’s best to have it at hand for reference.
